Update: New forums working. Please click Forums menu on the left. SEE FORUMS for other clone projects. Register to ask question and post your projects. I built this site almost 10 years ago (started off with pure HTML using retarted MS Frontpage, added incredible drop down menus and finally migrated over to 100% CMS as of Dec/2010) with intent to share my knowledge and resources to clone these magnificent sounding speaker boxes and to complete my very own version of the Utopia Clone. The goal is to build one that looks as closely as possible to the real thing, using the closest drivers available to us at the time. Dream was shattered when my 33WX got stolen. I'm still an audiophile with an ugly set of bookshelf speakers, using drivers equivalent to the Micro Utopia.
After building this site, it has inspired others who have looked into cloning their own Utopias shared their projects and designs through here. They have submitted various creations and more versions can be found in the forums. It's not much. I have lost images and posts over the years due to hackers, spammers or accidentally. The current site doesn't look that great but I migrated most of the useful content over. It will be so much easier for me to update this site if anyone submits (or the veterans who participated past, please post some updated photos) something that blows me away, otherwise, it'll stay in the forums. I'm pretty sure other cloners wanted to share in the last 5 years but sadly found out, I only made the forums read only and was trashed by spammers. It's back up now and you can now register and post away. Although this site is dedicated to cloning Utopia speakers, all other audio projects and questions are welcome! I would very like much to re-start the community of avid DIY audiophiles. I have included 3 basic categories in the forums to fulfill this requirement.
You have come to the right place for cloning JM Lab Utopia series speakers. Over the years, many have successfully cloned their very own JM Labs. Every impressive! I have not yet to complete mine. My 13WX got stolen back in 2005. :( Oh well... One day, I suppose.
